Can six people’s memories of that day ever converge into a single truth? Six young candidates meet at a final-round job interview, hoping that a successful group discussion will earn them all a place at the company. But the revelation that only one position is available, followed by an anonymous message containing damaging revelations, drives them apart. Final Interview intercuts the events of that day with interviews conducted six years later, weaving a truth from fragments of testimony. As the audience reconstructs events through each speaker’s account, they too encounter traps laid along the way. What the film relentlessly probes is not so much who lied as how the rules of competition turn each person’s truth into grounds for suspicion. Turning the closed interview room into a microcosm of a competitive society, the film combines the tension of a thriller with the pleasures of a mystery. Against the reality faced by a generation shaped by the pandemic, the film reveals a painful paradox: correcting certain misunderstandings can come at the cost of one’s dignity.
