A brilliant young African man builds a camera even before European scientists do. Everything would be perfect—were it not for the fact that this took place in 19th-century Brazil, the last country in the Americas to abolish slavery. Disguised to avoid enslavement, he uses his invention to support a revolution for Black liberation on the plantation of a powerful Baron.
