In a world where labour markets and cheap hostels meet, Mangmei is the landlady, the job broker and the backbone of her family. Every day she switches between roles, rushing about for her lodgers, her children and her livelihood. Life throws one problem after another at her, and she parries each with grassroots wit and resilience, until a new life and an accident arrive at the same time and this seemingly tough woman has to face how little of her fate she controls, and keep fighting back from the cracks of everyday life.
