How do machines learn to read the world? Through interviewees' accounts and screen recordings, we see how 'micro-workers' in the Global South carry out simple digital labour online, training the AI models that let self-driving cars move safely through the streets of the Global North. While they analyse images from the United States, the workers imagine micro-strategies to band together and hack back into the system that exploits their hands and eyes.
