A man has taken his own life. To Suyeon, he was a father, and to Inseon, a husband. Director Lee Kwang-kuk - known for capturing subtle emotions in everyday moments and relationships – returns with his fi fth feature fi lm BEAUTIFUL DREAMER, exploring how we come to face loss. Even as the third anniversary of his passing approaches, those left behind still suffer from sleepless nights. Suyeon and Inseon lost the same person, but they did not go through the same experience, and the weight of grief grows heavier over time, creating a large rift between them. BEAUTIFUL DREAMER steps into the void created by the absence of a loved one, exploring how different forms of mourning arise. The characters stumble into that emptiness time and again, yet chance encounters, bonds they cling to, and countless rewound memories slowly, if haltingly, lead them back to a “normal and good” place. A record of recovery in which laughter is reborn from where grief and resentment have pooled.
