Alain is about to get married. It should be one of the happiest moment of his life, yet he seems somewhat uneasy. Chronic stomach pains and anxiety have long plagued him. He is still stuck in the unhealed childhood wounds that arose from his parents′ divorce. Alain’s family and relatives who gather to celebrate are loud and boisterous, paying little attention to his state of mind. His bride, Virginie, tries to understand him, but it is hard for her to hide her discontent. What should have been a smooth-sailing wedding day turns increasingly chaotic as a chain of unexpected mishaps unfolds. Will Alain and Virginie be able to finish their wedding as planned, and step into their new life together? Lovely Day is the much anticipated new film from Philippe Falardeau, director of My Salinger Year (2020).
