Meiyun, who runs a clothing store, learns she is pregnant while dating her boyfriend Qifeng. While waiting for the results of her ultrasound, she unexpectedly runs into her ex-husband Baoshu in the hospital lobby. Years ago, Baoshu had been wrongfully imprisoned for a crime that she committed. Now released and hospitalized following cancer surgery, he crosses paths with her in a moment that feels fated. With nowhere else to go, Baoshu turns to Meiyun for help, but he is unable to forgive her for ruining his life and betraying him. The uneasy cohabitation with her ex-husband proceeds to throw Meiyun’s life into chaos, especially after the breakup with her boyfriend. The Sun Rises on Us All is a moral drama entangled in sin, forgiveness, and reconciliation, and its final scene delivers a visceral jolt, evoking a raw, primal emotion beyond words.
