SABU made his directorial debut with D.A.N.G.A.N Runner (1996), which screened at the Berlin International Film Festival, followed by films such as Monday (FIPRESCI prize at Berlinale 2000), The Blessing Bell (Netpac Award at Berlinale 2003), Dead Run (2005), Kanikosen (2009), Bunny Drop (2011), and Miss Zombie (2013). His Chasuke's Journey (2015) and Mr. Long (2017) were both selected for competition at the Berlinale.
