Documentary always unfolds between real people and real lives. Facing a scene that cannot be planned, the camera is both a way of looking and a process of constantly correcting one's understanding. Drawing on Wu Yao-tung's many years of documentary practice, the talk returns to the filming site to discuss how a documentary enters other people's lives, how it faces the distance that always remains between people, and the moments that happen outside the film yet decide how it comes into being.
