Under the dictatorship of President Ferdinand Marcos (in office 1965–86), martial law was declared in 1972, leading to severe repression. Student activist Edgar Jopson (EDJOP) led student demos demanding Marcos's resignation, but he was captured and shot to death in 1982. His eldest daughter, Joyette, is a triathlete in modern-day Philippines; she harbors deep resentment toward her father, who she never met, for leaving without a second thought for his family. EDJOP parallels the lives of father and daughter, separated by half a century. Elijah Canlas as EDJOP is a popular actor known for About Us But Not About Us.
