Javier Calvo (born in Madrid in 1991) and Javier Ambrossi (born in Madrid in 1984), known as "Los Javis," are the most award-winning creative duo in the Spanish audiovisual industry. They first collaborated on the 2013 stage play La Llamada, and made their name with its 2017 film adaptation, Holy Camp!, a box-office hit. They created iconic works of Spanish pop culture with the TV series Paquita Salas (2016–2019) and Veneno (2020), and La Mesías (2023), which screened at both San Sebastián and Sundance, became the most award-winning series in the history of Spanish audiovisual. Their second feature, La Bola Negra, drawn from Federico García Lorca′s unfinished novel and Alberto Conejero′s play La Piedra Oscura, had its world premiere in the main competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Palme d′Or, and the pair shared the Best Director award with Paweł Pawlikowski (Fatherland).
