Fernanda Tovar於1991年在墨西哥城出生。她畢業於Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica，並於2020年參與Berlinale Talents Guadalajara。她的短片《My Age, Yours, and the Age of the World》（2021）曾於康城影評人週放映，另一部短片《I Want to Violently Crash into the Windshield of Love》（2024）則獲邀參加翠貝卡電影節。《Sad Girlz》是她的首部長片，並於柏林國際影展新生代14plus單元獲得水晶熊獎及國際評審團最佳電影大獎。
