“I won’t waver. I won’t be swept away.” Navier (Shin Mina), the empress and a formidable kingmaker in her own right, suddenly learns that the emperor intends to divorce her. But rather than be drawn into a familiar rivalry with another woman, she chooses a new land and a new destiny. Based on the popular web novel of the same name, The Remarried Empress combines the dazzling spectacle of romantic fantasy with a political drama of power, weaving in subtle undercurrents of anger and disappointment. Navier’s decision is not a fallback after the failure of love, but a political choice to reclaim her agency and the course of her life from a system that has worn her down. Navier, dignified yet solitary; Sovieshu (Ju Jihoon), impossible to read; Rashta (Lee Seyoung), hiding shadows behind an innocent face; and Heinrey (Lee Jongsuk), who moves freely between human and non-human form. The familiar characters of the original work come vividly to life, as the desires and competing interests of these four set its vast fictional world into motion.
