Shaun is a man who has got nowhere in life and spends all day hanging around with his best mate Ed, who has got even less far; he even brings Ed along on dates with his girlfriend Liz. One day Liz has had enough of Shaun’s aimlessness and breaks up with him. Shaun is truly heartbroken, but being so hopeless, he can only vent his feelings by drinking and playing video games. Then one morning Shaun and Ed wake up to find a zombie in the back garden; worse, the whole city has nearly fallen. Now Shaun must find his inner hero and defend his family and friends.
The opening film of maverick director Edgar Wright’s “Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy”, it set the template for the zombie comedy (zom-com). With a cast of British comedy stars, it became a worldwide box-office success on a small budget and a pop-culture phenomenon that rewards every repeat viewing.
