Tokyo International Film Festival 2026

The Japanese Classics section screens classic Japanese film masterpieces. In addition to films by directors Somai Shinji and Naruse Mikio, as well as screenings commemorating the 55th anniversary of Nikkatsu Roman Porno (romantic pornography), this year we will co-host a special retrospective in conjunction with the National Film Archive of Japan to mark the 70th anniversary of the passing of Mizoguchi Kenji, a master filmmaker who shines brilliantly in the history of world cinema.
